Ljubljana

Jessica D.

Ljubljana is by far one of the most beautiful and comfortable villages I have ever visited. The airport is tiny but welcoming, the countryside is breathtaking with tree covered mountains, and the native citizens are incredibly friendly. Thankfully most, if not all, of them speak English and have been able to help us with directions as our group meandered around the city on a self-guided tour. Unfortunately, we did run into some protective police outside the U.S. Embassy who were not happy about strangers taking pictures of their building (which looked like an old Victorian style home) and practically chased us down the street. Overall, however, I have completely fallen in love with Ljubljana and Slovenia in just one day. We went on a scavenger hunt looking for famous places throughout the city such as the WOW symbol of Ljubljana, the Lock Bridge, and Ljubljana castle, and I felt that the experience really helped me to explore the city with a goal in mind rather than walking around aimlessly and getting lost in the maze of streets. I felt very comfortable and relaxed while walking around and taking in the beautiful architecture and inviting shops, and I'm already ready to plan my next trip back to Europe.
