The University Rehabilitation Institute of the Republic of Slovenia Soca was on of the most eye-opening stops of the day. This institute focuses on the rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities, amputated limbs, muscle degeneration, and pretty much any other muscular, skeletal, or neurological condition. The work they do can literally change lives, and it was amazing to see the technology that is being created to assist individuals with daily activities. The "IRIS Home" is a state-of-the-art home setting with a unique bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, and sitting room. My favorite part was the bathroom, which included a toilet seat which would be raised, leaned against, and then lowered to assist handicapped individuals with muscular issues. It's amazing to see the new inventions which will make life easier and happier for disabled individuals!
